REAR ADMIRAL RAJAPRIYA SERASINGHE APPOINTED AS DIRECTOR GENERAL OF THE SRI LANKA COAST GUARD

In a new milestone for Sri Lanka’s maritime security, Rear Admiral Rajapriya Serasinghe has been appointed as the 8th Director General of the Sri Lanka Coast Guard as of 25th October 2024.

Starting his career as an officer cadet in the 10th Intake at General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University in 1992, Rear Admiral Serasinghe has served in diverse and critical roles, including a decade of sea service, during which he commanded various Fast Attack Craft and the 4th Fast Attack Flotilla. Furthermore, he has served in multiple capacities aboard Offshore Patrol Vessels such as SLNS Sagara and SLNS Sayura, and as Commanding Officer of SLCGS Suraksha and SLNS Sindurala. He has held key appointments such as Director of Operations and Director of Training at Sri Lanka Coast Guard Headquarters, Deputy Area Commander of the North Western Naval Area, Director Naval Personnel at Naval Headquarters, and Deputy Director General of the Sri Lanka Coast Guard prior, he has taken the helm of the Sri Lanka Coast Guard as its Director General.

This leadership change marks a new chapter for the Sri Lanka Coast Guard under Rear Admiral Rajapriya Serasinghe and looks forward to his continued leadership in strengthening the nation’s maritime security and protecting maritime zones of Sri Lanka.
