THE FIRST TRAINING MODULE- 2022 ATC KIRINDA


PREAMBLE

Sri Lanka Coast Guard (SLCG) Advanced Training Centre (ATC) was established on 29th February 2016. Initially, it was named as Training Office of SLCG Rohana. On 14th January 2022, ATC was shifted to CGS Kirinda due to congestion in SLCG Rohana. Presently, it is being functioned under the ‘Directorate of Training’-SLCG. Advance Training Centre is dedicated to design and provide advanced training to newly joined personnel to SLCG specially planned develop the skills related to duties on Search and Rescue (SAR), Prevention of unlawful acts at sea and maritime environmental protection. Presently, the school provides facility for 30 trainees and there would be new classrooms including further training facilities for upcoming advance courses as well. In addition to that, qualified instructors are nominated by the Directorate of Training-SLCG to conduct approved annual training program. Theoretical and practical knowledge are given to trainees to uplift the confidence as qualified law enforcement officials.

CONDUCT

On 01st March 2022, the ATC starts its training for newly joined Coast Guard personnel by starting the first training module- 2022 which includes three officers, six senior sailors and 21 junior sailors. As of the beginning of the course, Lecture on “Frustration and Stress Control” was conducted by the training staff. During the afternoon session, “Introduction to Sri Lanka Coast Guard” lecture was carried out by the training staff.


This Acquaintance Course includes following modules to impart specific knowledge in various aspects relevant to coast guard role and task.

Coast Guard Acquaintance Course.

Search & Rescue Course.

Maritime Law Enforcement and Boarding Officer Course.

Maritime Disaster Prevention & Oil Spill Response course.

RHIB Operator Course

Teamwork

In addition to the above mentioned courses, daily physical trainings and evening sports party will be conducted by divisional Physical Training Instructor.
